Five Star Meals

Welcome to School Nutrition!

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The School Nutrition Department at Los Nietos School District is taking a leadership role in helping students to make healthier eating and physical activity choices.  We encourage students to eat a healthy and balanced diet at school.

Be a RISING STAR with a Heathly School Breakfast

A healthy breakfast is offered at no charge to students daily in all of our schools in Los Nietos School District.

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and is proven to contribute toward improved academic performance.  Research shows that students who eat breakfast are better able to concentrate, pay attention and learn in school.

All elementary schools will be participating with Breakfast in Class, Second Chance Breakfast will also be offered.

Healthy changes to School Lunches

Following the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, Los Nietos School Nutrition has made every effort to ensure that breakfast and lunch include items that are healthy and fresh. This federal law aims to reduce the incidence of childhood obesity by providing healthier choices for school lunches. These include more whole grains, and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Parents also are encouraged to contact us at 562-699-3395 Ext 3216.
